Born into a family of small business owners, Sobotka did some soul searching after working in finance to find her "true north." In 2019, she founded True North Technologies to help small to medium sized businesses develop mobile apps in an affordable way. Despite the onset of the pandemic last year, Sobotka invested $100,000 by growing her team from three part-time employees to nine mostly full-time employees in six months. By November, True North partnered with multimedia messaging service TapOnIt to help local businesses and restaurants promote their food and services.
